Cat not using litter tray?
We have a nine year old siamese who we’ve had for about three years. She and a companion came to us already litter trained. Recently she has taken to pooping outside her tray – not even near it in fact. There have been no changes in her diet or in the routine of the household and she seems just as cheerful and active as ever. We’ll take her to the vet if it happens again, but if anyone else has any ideas I’d really appreciate it.

She might be experiencing some stress you are not aware of… cats can be very secretive about these things.
Otherwise, she may have an infection (urinary) which causes her painful urination. I know that isn’t the same as defecating, but the point I’m making is that she may be associating the painful urination with the litter box, and the bowel movement.
You are right to take her to the vet if this continues. As I said, cats can be very secretive when it comes to what ails them. Vets can have trouble figuring them out, too! GOOD LUCK, and love your "Meezer!"
