Hey people. I got a serious issue with my cat and don’t know what else to do. Little Molly is a really shy black cat and I have 3 in total. One is the mother of 2 kittens of who we kept – So we have a little family of cats. One of the cats are scared of everything including now the mother cat. We have one litter box and where the other 2 cats will use the litter tray, one of the kittens (now coming to one year old – she about 10 months old) just will rarely use it. She preferes to lay stools in corners of walls, under beds, couches, any dark place. I’ve kept the littertray clean as possible, sprayed the "away cat" stuff which is meant to prevent this happening all around the house bar the litter tray, put her out at nights, yet still no luck. I really like her but my mum is away to get rid of her if she dont stop. Help please?
i hav a number of cats within my household, 2 of which are mine, these are both kittens and therefore need to use the litter tray, the problem is there are 2 of the older cats that wen my back is turned will use the litter tray, everytime i hav seen this i hav grabbed them before they can do there business and put em outside, but they always find a way as soon as my back is turned.
rite i hav 2 add to this, my house does not smell, the cats mostly use there toilets outside, i dont know where u live but it is the norm to hav the cats goin outside in no way is it cruel/harmful/nasty
Hi. I have an 18 month old cat that has always been pretty bad at using her littler tray. She originally grew up with two other cats in the house who knew how to use the litter, but she never quite learnt, sometimes she’d be good but other times she’d go outside the box. I think it may have been a cleanliness issue for her.
Lately she has gotten really bad. I left her home alone for the weekend (had a mate feed her), and when i came home i found one lot in the litter tray and about four other lots surrounding the tray. So i cleaned it up last night, put fresh litter in it and hoped for the best. When i got home from work today i found another lot on the floor, and also, get this, a pile on my freaking bed. I am almost at the end of my patience with her but as i love her dearly would like to know anyone’s thoughts or suggestions.
we have 2 cats the older 1 uses the tray ok but the newer 1 is pissing all over the place. I havent found any shite laying around so it must shit in the tray but doesnt seem to piss. How can we train her ?
we dont want to get rid of her but if we cant train her then it will have to go.
i have an indoor cat (through the cats choice) who is 13 and an outdoor cat who is 8, my indoor cat uses a litter tray and my outdoor cat has started to also use it even tho when we got her she had always gone outside to do the toilet. this has resulted in me needing 2 litter trays. I really don’t have space for this how do i get my outdoor cat to only do the toilet outside?
WE have one of those automatic self scooping up trays and love it. But its completely open and I’m not sure they even make a lid or cover for this design. Or if a cover would even keep a super curious baby out of the cat poop. What have other people done? Any tips?
ok let me add some info. We have two "outdoor" cats, so a pet door doesn’t work because those cats aren’t allowed inside. Also we don’t have an extra room or bathroom available. OUr place is tiny. Thank you so much for the advice but any other ideas?
Can you move around a cats litter tray? Like, if the litter tray has been in the bathroom a long time, for one day can I move it to the laundry? or will the cat not use it or something?
Thanks.
x
This may sound like a really stupid question, but I am getting a kitten for the very first time tomorrow. I have never owned a cat before, and don’t know how to clean the cat litter tray? Do I empty the entire tray everyday or do I just scoop up the cats ‘litter’ and add a little more gravel stuff to top it up?
I have two cats and Im concerned about toxoplasmosis. I cant get anyone else to empty the litter tray but when I change the litter every 2-3 days I do wear gloves and wash hands afterwards. I empty any solids as soon as I notice them and again wear gloves for this and wash hands afterwards. Do you think this should be ok? has anyone out there had to do the same?
thanks
We have two cats and untill now have just kept the litter tray clean by scooping the doo-daa’s out into supermarket bags and then binning them.
Obviously this is not the way forward , so could anyone please suggest a realistic way to deal with the waste?
Would the best idea be biodegradable bags?
We also currently use plastic bags for daily kitchen waste which has also got to stop.
How do you deal with dailly waste?
The daily household waste has to be in individual bags before it goes in the wheely bin otherwise it will ming.
Sorry but I worry about the people who collect the waste at any expense.
I’d appreciate any practical solutions, and please no knitting tank-tops out of cat poo solutions.
Thank you.
Sorry should have mentioned that they are house cats. And although they like the garden, we have enough buried treasure from our neighbours cats.
i have a bedroom with a bathroom and in the bathroom i have a cat litter tray.
my mum says every night to leave my door open to let the cats take a ShIt
yet i want my door closed and the tray out;
-it smells
-the cats piss in my room
-my mum flushes the shit down my toilet n it comes back to haunt me later on in the day
i have tried arguing but she wont listen
can ne 1 give some suggestions on some help?
i NEED an alternative to a litter tray for my cat, the kitchen and bathroom of the house we’ve moved to are too cramped for the tray and it makes a huge mess in any other room.
she doesnt have a cat flap and getting one put in is not an option, we rent and landlord says no. she goes out and we have a big garden but obviously we’ve got to be around to let her in/out.
i know some people train their cats to go on the actual toilet, how hard is this to do (she’s 4 months), from somebody that has a toilet trained cat?
any other idea/options welcome…. thanks..
i didnt say it wouldnt fit, there isnt a convinient area for it to sit in, its in the way.
thanks for the helpful comment, how small is your brain.
We have three cats (all rescued feral) and I need a large cat box (I won’t bother to explain why). The ideal would be 28 in. by 40 in. and about 10 in. deep. The only dimension that I need to match pretty closely is the width of 28 in. I got a cement-mixing tray from Home Depot, but it’s not large enough. They have a larger size but it’s too big.
What is the best cat litter for persian cat? I had tried fresh step, cat attract, and EverClean. My kitties have red eye (too many dirt on their eyes) when they use fresh step cat litter. Cat attract is 99% dust free cat litter but actually it made my kitties eyes just get worse. They are kind of fine with EverClean. We brought them to Vets and they all said you to try diffrent cats litter. Anybody please help me out .
Thanks in advance
