She has a litter tray, which she uses, but also like to go outside when its warm…but…if we get rid of the litter tray to encourage her to go outside to use the bathroom everytime, she goes into a corner of the kitchen and pees/shits there…why does she want both ?

As a kitten, she was out all the time, then only recently (last 2 years or so) she’s started wanting to use both…she’s almost 12 years old if it helps..

i recently got a kitten she is about 3 months old
when we first got her she used her litter tray perfectly she took to it straight away
but now she won’t poo in it, she has taken to pooing in the corner of the bathroom
what should we do?

ive got a really big problem…my cat wont use a litter tray…ive had him 3 months and he will not use one AT ALL, hes a year old its not the litter as ive tryed changing that and he has two trays…yet he will always do hes business on my floor…ive got a new baby due in march…i cant keep him if this continues…please help me!???
what the fuck are you talking about get rid of my baby?? im 6 months pregnant you dick…why dont you go and jump infront of a train…no dumb comments please, they wont be appriciated
my problem is hes not a kitten, so i dont know if he was trained this by hes previous owner which most kittens pick it up himself..but if hes one years old i dont see how i can make him use a litter tray…it should come natural

I am currently experiencing a problem with my oldest cat Paris who is 3. She was litter trained when we got er and has used the tray for the past 6months but now for the past week she has urinated and soiled on the kitchen floor right next to the tray but never in it. I have tried moving the tray and each time clean the area to get rid of the smell. She does not go anywhere else other than beside the tray. My youngest kitten 5months (male) has never gone anywhere other than in the tray. Anything i can do to stop this as its unhygienic and unpleasant.
I do already have 2 litter trays and clean the litter as soon as possible after they have used it. The cat has been to the vets and doesnt have a infection. Oh and i have had the kitten 3months and she hasent done it then. Thanks so far

my oldercat is not really impressed and hisses and growls. she does go out into the kitchen and sniffs around. the other day she went out whilst kitten was upstairs and licked the litter tray?? not in it the plastic on the outside? normally if i smell of the new kitten and smothe her she will go for me,but when i went to smothe her this time she gave my hand a lick?? what does this mean?

i just got a kitten and in the day time her litter box goes on the balcony and at night i put it in the living room. do you think thats fine were it is, i have 2 small children and cant think what to do with it.
do you think i can keep on doing this for years even when the cat is an adult. pls help

she goes outside every day with my other cat, who does her buisness outside. though the kitten is very attached to me and wont go far away from where i am.

we tried taking the litter tray away to prompt her to go outdoors, but she still went in the same spot even though there was no litter tray,

please help, as i don’t know whether she will need a litter tray for the rest of her life, or this is just a phrase

My kitten is an angel about using his litter box but he likes it REALLY clean, and will actually come and tell me if it needs emptying, by yowling and jumping on the bag containing the litter! As soon as I put the clean tray down with the fresh litter, he jumps in and uses it! :-)
The litter I used to use was not very absorbent and so I’d have to empty it at least once a day, or his feet would get wet. Now I have bought some new stuff which is much better and I remove the droppings (solids) as soon as he does them. The problem now is the strong smell of ammonia. It isn’t something I am aware of in the room, it is only when I remove the droppings and some of the wet litter, the smell is very strong and I don’t think he likes it at all.
Is there anything I can mix in a plant sprayer to treat the litter, which will help to counteract it?

My 9 month old cat keeps on using my kitten’s litter tray and he is too big for it and keeps making a right mess how can I stop him from doing this? Also my kitten keeps peeing behind the tv how can I stop her from doing that? She uses (the kitten) the litter all of the time when I am in the house! The house is going to be a mess if they carry on the way they are going! :-(

I have a spayed male burmese from kitten (4 yrs) who is used to living in a house with a garden. In the next few days I am moving to a studio apartment which is on the 6th floor. He isn’t going to be able to go outside so how do I re-train a fully domesticated cat to start using a litter tray again?

He means too much and cost a fortune so not taking him just isn’t an option.

Thanks in advance, Niiro

Check out my photoblog at: www.danielvalentephotography.com This is our hidden litter box and cat organizer. The piece of furniture was a 55 gallon fish tank stand we got at petco. It was nice and made out of wood laminate. We cut a hole in the side and put molding for the entrance. The cats walk down a corridor that is lined with indoor carpet to minimize tracking. They then jump down in the litter box which has a motion-activated LED light. The box has plenty of storage for all of our cat stuff.

Happy caturday!
