why does my cat think his litter tray is a bed?
hi, i have 2 male cats who are indoor cats so obviously know what there litter tray is for by now but lately (i don’t know why) they have started to pee standing up so it goes all over my wall and into my carpet which is starting to smell. I have a baby on the way so can’t have the house smelling of wee. They have both been neutered so i no they aren’t marking and if i try and move the litter tray they will just go where it previously was. I have seen some litter trays with a lid and a flap so that no wee can escape but because they are so funny i thought i would get them used to just a lid first, but they just meow outside of it. They have no fears of going inside but they just lie down and drift off i don’t know what else to do but i can’t keep having the house stink of pee. I asked my vet about putting them outside but it turns out that one of my cats is to stressy and will just bolt at the first frightening thing i don’t know what else to do does anybody know how i can get them using a tray with a lid as they will have to get used to one with a flap on soon.
i have also had them checked by a vet and there is no medicalreason why they have all of a sudden started to pee standing up.

They are sensing that you have a baby on the way and are feeling a bit insecure, which can cause these behaviour changes. Not sure about how you can solve this but in the meantime keep to the usual routine and be sure to reassure your cats that you still love them.
